Thank you to Marsden Head of Rowing, Ruby Leverington, for writing an in depth report for us about the absolutely amazing season our rowers have just had. Please see below for all of the amazing details.
Marsden rowing has just completed its most successful season yet making history for the school in the two championship regattas (NISS and Maadi). Marsden won its first ever medals at these regattas with the U15 octuple winning a bronze medal at NISS, and Ruby winning a silver at NISS as well as a bronze at Maadi in the U18 single. For our summer camp this year we traveled to Mangakino to train on the beautiful Lake Maraetai, a place we have never previously been. It was a very constructive week and we made huge progress as a squad. The camp involved 6 days of training, eating, sleeping (and heaps of fun of course). The weather conditions were perfect and we squeezed in over a month's work of water training over this short space of time.

The camaraderie of our squad has been extremely special and goes to show that rowing is a sport that extends beyond just the training and racing. We are extremely grateful for all the support received over the season from the school, parents, volunteers, rowing committee and our fantastic coaches; Steph, Sheldon, Catherine and Rachel. Marsden rowing and its successes would never be possible without you all.
