Summer Tournament Wrap-Up

Our Marsden athletes had an action-packed Summer Tournament Week, competing across multiple sports and representing the school with pride. Here are a few words from each of the teams about their experience:

Waterpolo

Senior A Waterpolo had a fantastic time at NISS going unbeaten until the semi-final! With a few tight scorelines, the girls developed our communication and handled the pressure really well. We are very happy with a 5th place under our belt for the end of the 2025 senior season.

Tennis

Last week Sahana and Maddie travelled to Hamilton to compete in the Secondary Schools Tennis Cup. They had a great time playing a variety of schools with some wins and some losses. Overall it was a great experience and lots of fun!

Volleyball

Over summer tournament week, Marsden senior A volleyball team headed to Palmerston North. Out of 16 teams in division 7, we ended up 4th after a tight 3rd/4th playoff, which was quite an achievement for us! Out of 9 games, we won a total of 5 games, and lost 4, which some were very tight often going to 3 sets. This week wouldn’t have happened without our wonderful coach Urs and our lovely managers Lizzie and Dave, and of course the parents that supported our players. Our highlight was definitely how the team bonded and how we grew closer to one another. We even had the opportunity to watch the div 1 girls final which was so inspiring!

Rowing

After a huge rowing season for Marsden, a squad of 11 attended Maadi this year, with 6 going for the first time! They had an incredible week with some amazing results across all of the age groups. The squad got 3 A finals, 2 B finals, a C final and a D final with the U16 2x of Immy and Charlie finishing 4th in the A Final (the most entered event of the regatta!). A special congratulations to Thea, Head of Rowing, who competed in her last Maadi for Marsden and will be greatly missed next year, and to Abby (Y9) for being selected to go as a novice!

Thank you so much to the wonderful Kate and Jamie for all the effort they put into the rowing programme for the season as well as all of the coaches and the whole rowing committee.
