Last week, Marsden students traveled to Tauranga to participate alongside more than 12,900 11-13 year old athletes from more than 90 schools. Below are some of the highlights, results and success from our students.
A huge thank you to all the coaches, managers, and parent helpers – both those who travelled with the teams and those supporting from home. Your efforts played a significant role in making this an awesome week for our Marsden students.
Netball: Our netball team achieved an impressive 42nd place out of 136 teams – believed to be our highest placement ever. Throughout the competition, the team showed fantastic competitive spirit and sportsmanship, supported by a dedicated community cheering them on.

Hockey: The hockey team had a strong run, starting with a narrow 5-6 loss to Carmel College. Despite challenges in pool play, including losses to eventual semi-finalists Diocesan School for Girls and Otumoetai Intermediate, the girls advanced to the 9-16 bracket for the first time. Their resilience showed in a tough 3-2 game against Mahurangi, and they finished the week on a high with a 5-1 victory over Hautapu, featuring a hat-trick from Frankie.
Marsden placed 15th out of 28 teams, marking one of the school’s best-ever finishes at AIMS. In addition to great hockey, the team enjoyed Tauranga’s sunshine, delicious rolled ice cream from Polar Ice Cream, and supported both Marsden Netball and other Wellington teams.

Swimming: Kristen delivered strong results in the 11-year-old age group. Well done Kristen! She placed:

Cross Country: Our cross-country team, made up of Isla, Phoebe, and Lizzie, placed 9th overall. Individually, they secured 6th, 18th, and 129th places respectively.

Golf: Minne performed exceptionally in golf, finishing 11th in the girls' division and 24th overall in the national competition, which included both boys and girls.
