Outstanding NISS Regatta

Marsden rowers had an outstanding weekend at the North Island Secondary School Champs (NISS). With 80 schools and 1800 athletes, Marsden’s 15 rowers raced their way into one A Final and four B Finals. NISS is an incredibly tough event, where due to such high entry numbers the progression towards finals day can often feel brutal. Every Marsden rower gave it everything they had and it was inspiring to see how supportive of each other they were. The weather athletes faced ranged between heavy rain and wind for heats, a super-hot day for semi-finals, and our finals day was delayed due to thick fog.

From here, Marsden will have 12 rowers competing at the AON Maadi Cup, the largest school sports event in the Southern Hemisphere, with 2,500+ rowers from 130+ schools.  The regatta is 27 March – 2 April at Lake Karapiro. The team would like to thank the incredible parent support, encouragement throughout the regatta by our Marsden community, and sponsor Rutherford and Bond Toyota for the ute that safely gets our boats to where they need to be. Congratulations to all Marsden rowers for the commitment, effort and discipline they’ve put in over these last six months.

Bring on Maadi!!!
